Hope for Haiti — Promoting a VR Experience at AWE 2023

My Role:

  • Creative Strategist
  • Visual Designer

Deliverables:

  • Poster designs
  • Video for TV display
  • Social media graphics
  • Newsletter sign-up sheet

Hope for Haiti developed a virtual reality experience to bring awareness to their cause, and showcased it at the 2023 Augmented World Expo (AWE). When they put out a call for booth volunteers, I offered both my time at the expo and my design skills to help elevate their on-site presence and improve audience engagement.

Working within their existing brand and content, I designed a set of promotional materials focused on clarity, visual impact, and strong calls to action:

  • Updated easel poster designs — I simplified their previous text-heavy layouts into more visual, scannable designs with clear CTAs
  • TV display — A looping video featuring the VR experience trailer alongside a persistent title and CTA
  • Newsletter sign-up touchpoint — bringing attention to their existing newsletter by displaying a signup sheet on an iPad
  • Social media assets — graphics for pre-event promotion, live posting during the expo, and post-event sharing, including a prepared asset for a potential Auggie Awards win. These were created in Google Slides to allow the client to make edits easily on the fly.

While not all materials were ultimately used, I believe my work was useful for thinking through practical UX decisions within the constraints of a live expo setting, and maximizing engagement of attendees with limited attention spans.
