While working as a receptionist at Optimizely, I identified opportunities to improve internal communications and employee experiences. I proactively offered my design skills to support company-wide events, leading the visual direction and production of materials for Camp Optimizely and Pride Week.
With no dedicated budget, I designed materials that could be produced using standard office equipment and assembled by hand, and larger installations were created from repurposed cardboard packaging. These constraints shaped my design decisions and encouraged creative, low-cost solutions while still maintaining a cohesive experience.
Camp Optimizely — Designing an Office Adventure for Future Optinauts

Camp Optimizely was a camp-themed “Bring Your Kids to Work Day” event designed to introduce employees’ children to the company, through a playful experience built around the idea of them becoming “future Optinauts.”
I designed a set of materials that worked together to guide the experience and reinforce the camp theme, including flyers, signage, activity packs for each child, a photo wall with illustrated cardboard animal cutouts, and a physical tent and faux campfire gathering area.

Pride Week — Design for Education and Inclusion

I volunteered my design services to Optimizely’s Pride Committee to support the company’s Pride Week programming and parade participation.
Working within a short timeline of only a few weeks, I designed a range of materials to support the week’s activities, including event graphics and educational materials. The materials were designed with clear hierarchy and quick-scan readability so employees could learn in casual office settings such as break rooms and shared tables.
In the spirit of inclusivity, I also designed gender-neutral restroom signage for the office, to provide more welcoming and affirming language in shared spaces.

Reflection
These projects reinforced my interest in experience design and how thoughtful design can create meaningful moments within everyday environments. They also showed how design can make learning more approachable, helping people engage with new ideas in casual, shared spaces rather than formal educational settings.
