Spring Fling — Exploring Instagram AR Filters

To explore augmented reality (AR), I taught myself Spark AR Studio and began creating Instagram filters during the height of their popularity.

I took the opportunity of a company spring-themed event to learn these skills, developing a set of interactive AR filters for attendees to use throughout the event. The filters were designed to complement the seasonal theme and encourage playful engagement.

The final effects included:

• Face tracking: a 3D flower model that appears to be tucked above the user’s ear and follows with their head movement
• Particle effects: floating flower petals that fall around the user
• A lighthearted “personality” randomizer that predicts a faux company role for the user
